Just hours before the 2017 Oscars aired, sad news broke for so many movie fans. On Sunday morning, Bill Paxton passed away at age 61 from complications following surgery. The actor will obviously be remembered for his roles in movies like Titanic and Twister, but would he be included in this year's Oscar tribute to actors who have died in the past year? It was hard to determine whether or not the show would be able to memorialize Paxton and his work on such short notice, but somehow, they managed to pull it off. Jennifer Aniston mentioned Paxton at the Oscars, and she couldn't stop from tearing up while she talked about him. After hearing her speak, you may be wondering: Were Aniston and Paxton friends?

That's a hard question to answer. There doesn't seem to be any evidence of their friendship recently or in the past, but judging by her reaction, Aniston definitely seemed to be affected by Paxton's passing. It's certainly possible that their paths had crossed at some point in their careers, or she may have just been a fan. Either way, there's no question that Aniston's emotions echo what so many people have been feeling after hearing the news.

The upsetting news of Paxton's death may have come on short notice where the Oscars are concerned, but it's nice that the show was still able to remember him, and I'm sure this is just the first time of many that his work and life will be honored.
