There are so many reasons to love Bachelor in Paradise, but number one on that list is getting to see contestants from past seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette again — and hopefully, getting to watch them get the happily ever after they've been looking for. This season's lineup includes so many fan favorites, including Danielle Maltby, who appeared on Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor, and when BiP premieres on Monday night, we get to catch up with her again. But what happened to Danielle M. on The Bachelor? This fan favorite just wasn't compatible with Nick.

From night one, it was obvious that Danielle was super sweet, bringing Nick some maple syrup from her family's business during limo arrivals. Despite her incredibly heartbreaking backstory — her fiancé died from a drug overdose — she remained optimistic in her search for love, and it didn't take long for her to fall for Nick and open up to him completely. After their one-on-one date on a yacht, their relationship seemed to progress a lot, and it seemed like Danielle was destined to become a front runner, sticking around until there were only six women left on the show.

But then, Nick realized that he had feelings for other women (like Vanessa Grimaldi, his current fiancée) that were stronger than what he felt for Danielle.

Seeing their breakup was incredibly difficult, and it seemed like Danielle was totally blindsided by it. During the dinner portion of one of their one-on-one dates, she admitted that she was falling for him, prompting Nick to let her go because he didn't return those feelings. With hometowns right around the corner, Danielle was convinced she'd get the chance to introduce Nick to her parents, but that all changed in an instant. It was one of the season's most brutal breakups, and Danielle was completely crushed. Who wants to be dumped on national television, especially since she never saw it coming?

But seeing Danielle on The Bachelor is just proof that she'd kill it on BiP, and knowing how heartbroken she was when she was eliminated just makes it that much sweeter that she's getting another shot.

Her chance with Nick might be gone, but there are plenty of eligible dudes in paradise this season, so who knows? This might be exactly what she needs to find what she's looking for.
