Vijay's Debut Was Cut Short On 'S.H.I.E.L.D.'

ABC

S.H.I.E.L.D. has always loved telling stories about family, siblings in particular, so it's a shame to see one broken up so soon. What happened to Vijay on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? He may not be as far gone as it seems.

While Senator Nadeer may have delivered her newly evolved Inhuman brother to the Watchdogs, killed him, and thrown his corpse into the ocean — Tuesday's episode gave us a glimpse of hope. At the very least, it was a glimpse of something weird. When Vijay's body hit the ocean floor, an ashy coocoon formed around him for the second time in his life. Is Vijay going through terrigenesis again?

Now, we know that the Daisy's mom's supply terrigen crystals was dumped into the ocean. That's how it got into the fish oil pills that infected the world and resulted in the reveal of many new powered people, for better or for worse. It pays to take your supplements, y'all. Unless, of course, that means your sister is going to throw you out of a helicopter.

So does this mean that the ocean is still brimming with the Kree alien substance? What happens to divers, or people who are just out at the beach, swimming and surfing? What powers will Vijay potentially have this time? He was the Marvel version of a speedster before. Maybe he'll grow some gills. Maybe the terrigen is just keeping his body preserved until he can be found.

At least this means that Vijay might be back on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before the end of the season. While we don't know much about him, I enjoyed him. I like that the two sibling lost their mother in the Chitauri attack (The Avengers) and have responded in such different ways. Plus, an Inhuman-hating senator with an Inhuman brother is just too good of a conflict to pass up.
