This Is The Top-Selling Lipstick Shade In Each State, According To One Mega Store

The fave faux holiday of makeup junkies is National Lipstick Day, which is Saturday, Jul. 29. The best way to celebrate is to change your lippie shade every hour on the hour or to stock up on new colors, right? Or are you in the market for a new lipstick to get you through the rest of the year?

Well, Walmart can help you choose your lip hue. Yes, the mega retail chain, which sees a whopping 140 million customers walk through its stores weekly, reviewed sales data from its outposts to determine the top-selling lipstick shades by state.

Walmart's PR team provided Bustle with an intriguing infographic breaking down the preferred lip hues.

Here are the most interesting takeaways and no, red is not the No. 1 lip shade. Sorry, Taylor Swift.

Pink is America's favorite lip color, nabbing 41 percent of sales. It is followed by rose and mauve. Red is the top shade choice in our nation's capital of Washington, D.C. and that's it. Coral is only Numero Uno in Hawaii.

Coral, red, rose, pink, and mauve comprise the Top 5.

As a native New Jerseyite, I see that pink is the Garden State's preferred pout hue. I co-sign that, since I don't wear dark lipsticks... unless I am doing an experiment for this site!

So pink is primo in the U.S. ICYMI: A survey studying the brand loyalty and purchasing habits of 1,000 women yielded this interesting find: COVERGIRL is the brand that millennials are most loyal to.

Perhaps you will hit your local Walmart and pick up a pink COVERGIRL lippie to celebrate National Lipstick Day, pink's supreme shade status, and COVERGIRL's millennial love.

Viva la liquid lipstick that you can buy online, too!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick, $17, Sephora

Or you can shop other shades from your favorite prestige brands, like Urban Decay.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick, $21, Sephora

While a rich, royal blue like this upcoming Kat Von D shade isn't one of the most popular by state, per Walmart's sales review, it's still rad AF.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick, $18, Sephora

If pink isn't your thing and you prefer to dip your lips in the sort of colors that everyone else isn't wearing, you have plenty of pucker options.
