Here's What You Need To Know About Starbucks' New Violet Drink

by Kiersten Hickman

Get ready to be singing “Gaga, ooh la la" when you head to Starbucks beginning this week, because these new Lady Gaga-approved Starbucks drinks look so delicious for a hot, summer day. That’s right — thanks to a partnership between Starbucks and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, two new dairy-free drinks will be released on Jun. 13 that will have customers just dancing their way through Starbucks front doors. The Violet Drink is one of the two recently released by Starbucks in their Cups Of Kindness Collection, along with the new Matcha Lemonade. These two drinks join the already-released Ombre Pink Drink and the original Pink Drink to make up the four drinks in the collection. So what exactly is in the Violet Drink?

The Violet Drink is a refreshing mix of sweet blackberries and hibiscus, along with the Very Berry Hibiscus Starbucks Refreshers swirled in with some creamy coconut milk and ice. The mix of berries and hibiscus give the drink a violet color, and pretty much the perfect color for your next viral Instagram.

In my opinion, the Violet Drink sounds the most delicious out of all four — probably because I’m a sucker for berries. The name of the drink is an ode to other famous color drinks including the Pink Drink, Green Drink, Orange Drink, and much more that have come from the Starbucks seasonal menu.

Not only does this drink sound delicious, but being a part of the Cups Of Kindness Collection means that your drink will be refreshing and rewarding this summer! Through their partnership, Starbucks will donate 25 cents for every Cups Of Kindness drink sold from Jun. 13 until Jun. 19. The money will go towards programs that will empower youth to be kind and compassionate towards others by creating positive environments and improving mental resources,

“We’re healthier and happier when we live our lives with compassion and our communities are stronger when we treat one another with generosity and respect,” said Lady Gaga in a recent Starbucks press release. “Born This Way Foundation and I are so excited to partner with Starbucks to help inspire positivity and love through the Cups of Kindness collection.”

So not only will this Violet Drink be absolutely delicious, but it’s for a good cause! Make sure you give this drink, the new Matcha Lemonade, or one of the other two delicious-sounding beverages, a try before Jun. 19 to help a beautiful cause founded by Lady Gaga herself!
