Karl Lagerfeld & Vans Collaborated On A Streetwear Collection (Yes, Really)

Even a street brand like Vans is ripe for high-low fashion mashup, which were super popular in the late '00s but have waned a bit as of late. But Vans and Karl Lagerfeld's eponymous brand are bringing it back, partnering for a capsule collection, according to Women's Wear Daily.

The Vans x Karl Lagerfeld collection, which includes both shoes and clothes, arrives worldwide on Sept. 7. It will run the gamut in pricing, starting as low as $40 and going as high as $300.

WWD reports that the collection will include six classic Van shoe styles, reimagined with distinctly Lagerfeld details. For instance, Van's signature checkerboard print is updated with Lagerfeld's profile.

The Sk8-Hi laceless platform and Old Skool laceless style get a fashion boost from leather and quilted construction and details.

Fans of Lagerfeld — who is known for his white-hot hair, his cat Choupette, and his fingerless leather gloves — will no doubt appreciate the T-shirt featuring an image of The 'Feld nodding to Vans by wearing a checkerboard tie.

There's also a black and white bomber and a premium leather backpack with a quilted "K" motif in the line, too.

Vans x Lagerfeld will be available at select Lagerfeld stores, as well as select Vans retailers, and each of the duo's sites.

Vans' styles are so classic, like the ones pictured above. Note that these are not the Vans x Lagerfeld designs. I cannot wait to see how each interprets the other.

This pair of Lagerfeld slip-ons definitely has an aesthetic similar to that of Vans. So this pairing isn't really a headscratcher — at least not to me.

Lagerfeld-o-philes will remember that the designer has a makeup collab with ModelCo on the horizon, too.

That collaboration is due in early 2018. So if you like makeup and cool sneakers, you can get a high-fashion dose of both via Lagerfeld.
