How Carly & Evan Were So, So Close To Meeting IRL Way Before 'BiP'

What a difference a year makes. In 2016, Bachelor Nation watched Carly Waddell and Evan Bass fall in love on Bachelor in Paradise Season 3. Now, the couple is recently married and expecting a child together. The one constant has been where Bachelor in Paradise stars Carly and Evan live: Nashville, Tennessee, where they were each based even before they began dating. Both of their Twitter bios currently list the Southern city as their home base. Their wedding, however, took place in June at the Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta resort in Mexico and viewers will see the nuptials on Bachelor in Paradise Season 4, in an episode that airs on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

On Bachelor in Paradise, they had an eventful courtship during Season 3, which ended in an engagement in the season finale. Distance did not seem to be an issue for the couple at any point, though. According to an interview in Glamour, Carly and Evan lived close to each other in Nashville at the beginning of their relationship last year. "We live seven minutes away from each other," Carly told the publication. "It’s out of control." Carly and Evan have been posting on social media about recently moving into a new home in the same city, which is fitting for a growing family (Evan has three sons from a previous marriage). On Aug. 4, Carly posted a video on Instagram of herself and Evan unpacking a bed in their new house.

Earlier this year, Evan told Bustle's Bachelor podcast, Will You Accept This Podcast? that their Nashville connection almost led to them meeting in real life before meeting on the reality show. "There's one time when I knew I was going to be on the show [The Bachelorette] and we were at this bar in Nashville," Evan said on the podcast, noting that his friend spotted Carly. Evan considered approaching her, but decided not to — and Carly was OK with that, saying they met the way they were meant to meet. Aww. It's also worth noting that, living in Nashville, you can run into a number of Bachelor stars. So many of them call the city home.

Carly and Evan's June wedding will be aired on Tuesday night's episode of Bachelor in Paradise and will feature several Bachelor franchise alums, including Jade Roper, Juelia Kinney, and Wells Adams. The ceremony was officiated by Bachelor host Chris Harrison. "It was truly the perfect day with friends and family in Mexico," Carly wrote in an Instagram post. "There was no better way to celebrate the start of our forever journey together. The love from Bachelor Nation has been overwhelming and we are so grateful to all who helped make this day amazing."

On Monday, Aug. 14, Evan described the wedding to Extra: "It’s emotional and funny and quirky and weird, just like our relationship."

Aww. It sounds like a wedding fit for one of Bachelor in Paradise's sweetest and quirkiest couples.
