Harry Styles was MIA on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet, despite being nominated for eight awards. Where Harry Styles is during the 2017 TCAs is currently a mystery. The musician and recent breakout movie star did not appear on the TCAs red carpet, and while fans on Twitter held out hope that Styles might make a surprise appearance during the show, alas, the former One Direction heartthrob was a no show.

2017 was a big year for Styles when it comes to the Teen Choice Awards. Not only was it the first year he was nominated as a solo artist, but it was also his first year nominated as an actor. Styles made his big screen debut in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk earlier this summer, earning him nominations for Choice Movie Breakout and Choice Summer Movie Star. His solo album, Harry Styles, also got him a few nominations, including Choice Male Artist, Choice Summer Music Star, Choice Single from a Male Artist for "Sign of the Times," and Choice Rock Artist.

Outside of his work as a singer and actor, the superstar was also nominated for Choice Style Icon for his exceptional style, and the iconic Teen Choice Award for Choice Male Hottie. Alas, if Styles won any awards, his absence from the show guarantees he'll be getting those surfboards in the mail.

Luckily for One Direction fans, however, Styles wasn't the only former member expected to make an appearance at the awards. In fact, Louis Tomlinson closed out the show with a performance of his single "Back to You." Granted, Tomlinson is no Harry Styles, but, hey, we'll take any 1D we can get.
