Whitney Port's Disposable Dishware Line Is Cute & Charitable

by Kaitlyn Wylde

Since her time on MTV's The Hills, Whitney Port has established herself as a fashion designer, a lifestyle blogger, and an interior design guru — all of which makes her next foray into decorative dinnerware a no-brainer. In her latest venture, Port has partnered with Cheeky to create a limited edition line of disposable (and adorable) dinnerware to be sold through Target.

If you follow Port on Instagram, which 1.2 million of you do, you know she has a knack for making table arrangements that go above and beyond lighting a candle. Luckily, she was able to bring her dreamy home aesthetic into her collaboration with Cheeky to make the most adorable, Instagrammable, philanthropical cups and plates you never thought you'd be able to afford. Yes, that's right: Cheeky donates a meal to those in need for each item purchased. So not only is this collaboration offering us affordable taste, but it's feeding the hungry too. Pretty neat, right?

The last time you were this excited about a paper plate, you were probably a kid and it was probably your birthday party. Which makes this collaboration refreshingly accessible — you can use this dinnerware for anything, from dinner parties to birthdays to picnics. It's affordable enough for everyday use and cute enough for special occasions. Plus, they make clean-up simple because the whole line is disposable! Forget hours of dishwashing with pruning fingers. As Port tells Bustle of the line, "Seeing what Cheeky has done in a short time, bringing fun and modern designs to the space, I knew I wanted to add my own touch! It’s been really fun working with Hema Patel, Cheeky’s Creative Director, on my own vision for a line. From florals to tropical cool vibes, we sprinkled the collection with enough variety to fit any occasion."

The line, Port adds, was inspired by luxury designers who actually produce ceramic dinnerware — "Heath Ceramics and Mud Australia. They make dinnerware in the most beautiful colors and prints seasonally."

A fan of festive meals and inspired by luxury designers, Port tells Bustle:

Here you can see the spring-appropriate colors and prints that Port was able to incorporate in to her line:

This line creates an opportunity for young people to experiment with tableware and dinner decor without having to make expensive purchases. Port explains, "Our line makes it so easy to set up a beautiful tablespace — each pack is only $3.59. I really believe that with the right elements anyone can do it. It’s also fun to pair the collection with other elements like florals and pretty serve ware to complete the full look."

But the best part about this line isn't even how cute it is, it's how good it is — literally. There's a charitable link to the brand as well, something that Port says was extremely important to her. "Giving back is something that I find so easy and important to do with a line like this. Cheeky is a one for one company, and since launching has helped provide over 12 million meals to their partners Feeding America and No Kid Hungry. As soon as I heard that 1 in 8 people in the U.S. faces hunger, and it’s solvable, I knew I wanted to help out. It’s all about making mealtime matter."

Whitney Port x Cheeky is available now on a limited run, and will be available in Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com through May 14.
