One thing that would be an excellent start to the New Year is if Marvel released a Wolverine and Deadpool standalone feature. The characters work so well in the comics — thanks to Deadpool's snarkiness and Wolverine's brooding goodness — so to see those two characters come together on the big screen would truly be a delight. Sure, the world still have many problems, but we would get to see some Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman joint screen time, which is certainly a nice thought. There are so many reasons for Marvel to create a Wolverine and Deadpool standalone film.
For Variety's cover story focusing on Reynolds, the magazine spoke to Jackman about his thoughts on a combo film and he replied: "I’m hesitating... because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may be wrong.” Jackman is allegedly planning to retire his Adamantium claws after the 2017 film, Logan, so it would seem for him that the best timing would have been five years ago. But in my estimation, the time is now! The following are some of the many reasons the world needs a Deadpool/Wolverine movie — and sooner than later, please.

Think Of The Banter
The first (and only) time Wolverine and Deadpool shared the silver screen, things didn't go so well for Deadpool. The antihero famous for having a smart mouth had his mouth sewn shut... so none of his witticisms could be enjoyed by viewers. The back and forth between the two characters could be a thing of beauty and needs to be explored!

The Fans Are Desperate For It
On Jan. 28, The Wrap reported that Ryan Reynolds would be making a cameo as Deadpool in the 2017 film Logan and shortly after fans lost their collective minds. Unfortunately, everyone involved with the rumors denied this crossover vehemently. But the massive response by the fans has to be worth something!

Ryan Reynolds Is Also Desperate For It
In a 2016 interview from Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds claimed, “Part of the reason I want to do a Deadpool/Wolverine movie is not just because I think the two would light the screen on fire, but I genuinely love the guy.” While that is not only adorable, he also brings up a great point. The two would be a dynamite pairing for the silver screen. Reynolds also mentioned that he might try to "get his Internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line." Consider us all successfully rallied.

The Jackman/Reynolds Rivalry Is Hilarious
Can you imagine all the fantastic fourth wall breaks Deadpool would make in a standalone with his lovable enemy? It would be fantastic. Since Jackman and Reynolds have a goofy rivalry in real life as exemplified by this video Jackman created and shared on his Instagram account after Reynolds got a star on Hollywood Boulevard, the fourth wall bit could potentially be even funnier.

Hugh Jackman Was Once Interested In Appearing In The 'Deadpool' Franchise
In an early 2016 interview with Yahoo, Jackman admitted, “I’ve never thought about it till now, but doing something with Ryan – he’s awesome – that’s always attractive to me. But I think you’ve probably got several other people lined up to play [Wolverine]…." The argument appears to be that Jackman's too old to play the character he brought to life. But, truth be told, his age would just be fodder for Deadpool and thus much, much funnier.
