Who runs the world? Girls. Some of Hollywood's most prominent stars are expected to turn out on Jan. 21 at the Women's March on Washington. But will Beyoncé be standing arm-in-arm at the capital with fellow feminists Katy Perry, Amy Schumer, Zendaya Coleman, Scarlett Johansson, and more in protest of the incoming organization and its highly sexist agenda? Beyoncé seems like the Women's March type, to be honest. You know, if her music is any indication. And also her activism.
After doing a bit of research, I've learned that there is no solid evidence suggesting that Bey will be in attendance — not yet, anyway — although the event certainly speaks to the "Run The World (Girls)" singer's staunch activism for women's rights. I mean, she basically lives and breathes feminism in her music and visual albums and also proved to be a highly notable supporter during Hillary Clinton's campaign, so it would seem that the march would be a can't miss event for the superstar, right?
Perhaps Mrs. Carter is keeping her attendance under wraps as to not cause a stir of pandemonium from fans. The organized protest has already gained astonishing momentum since being started on Facebook mere hours after Donald Tump was elected to become the country's 45th president, now boasting more than 100,000 registered participants, according to a recent article by the Washington Post.
Celebs such as Cher, Debra Messing, and Julianne Moore have showed support for the movement and will reportedly either attend or participate in other ways. Meanwhile, Chelsea Handler will be leading a demonstration in conjunction with the cause in Park City, Utah, while America Ferrera will serve as a chair of the "artist table."
As the Women's March continues to grow, more than 30 civil rights groups have partnered with the movement, including Define American, United We Dream, Muslim Women’s Alliance, the Trayvon Martin Foundation, Girls Who Code, and Black Girls Rock, as well as abortion rights groups Naral Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood.
Other celebs slated to lend their support at the rally include Orange Is The New Black's Uzo Aduba, Lea DeLaria, and Diane Guerrero, along with actor, Constance Wu from Fresh Off The Boat. Needless to say, the effort stands to be a momentous day in the history of our country – with or without Beyoncé. But hopefully with.
