Does Cersei Team Up With The White Walkers?

On Thursday, HBO released an official promo for Season 7 of Game of Thrones, which returns July 16. And the end of the video leaves a lot of fans wondering one thing: does Cersei team up with the White Walkers? Spoiler warning: If you for some reason clicked this article, but don't want to know anything about the upcoming season of GoT, then do not read any further.

The 90-second Season 7 promo, titled "Long Walk," shows Cersei, Jon Snow, and Daenerys walking to their respective thrones. Cersei takes a seat on the Iron Throne (for those of you in need of a refresh — at the end of Season 6, Cersei took over the Seven Kingdoms), Jon Snow takes his seat at Winterfell (he was declared King in the North at the end of the last season), and Daenerys takes a seat on a throne we haven’t yet seen before. However, it’s expected that she’s taking her claim on Dragonstone, the former Targaryen throne. Now, it's worth noting that the footage appears to have been shot just for the promo, and many have suggested that it isn't likely footage from the actual upcoming season. Something to definitely keep in mind as we delve further into the details of the video.

At the end of the clip, we see Cersei exhale a frosty looking breath — it's the same type of breath that one would expect to see coming from a White Walker's mouth.

The camera zooms out, and we then see what looks like the Night's King eye (he's the leader and first of the White Walkers), which suggest that there's some connection between Cersei and the White Walkers.

Now, there are a few conclusions one could draw from this clip. First, that Cersei herself becomes a White Walker. Second, that Cersei teams up with the White Walkers rather than becoming one herself, and she's somehow able to learn some of their north of the wall style magic that she uses to defend King's Landing. Third, and the conclusion I personally think seems more likely, perhaps it's crazy cold in Westeros (you know, because winter is no longer coming, it's arrived), and Cersei's breath and the fade out to a White Walker's eye suggests that the White Walkers will make an attack on King's Landing in Season 7.

Although speculating is always fun, it doesn't seem like we'll know for sure until GoT returns in July. And don't forget, there are two seasons of the show left, so the whole Cersei/While Walker connection might not even get addressed until Season 8. Now matter what goes down, I'm sure there's one thing all of us fans can agree on, July 16 can't come soon enough.
