Why Courtney Robertson Could Actually Show Up On Arie's 'Bachelor' Season

It's official: Arie Luyendyk Jr. is the next Bachelor. The runner up in Emily Maynard's Bachelorette season will soon be meeting dozens of women at the famous Bachelor mansion, but they might not all be new to Bachelor Nation. Arie is, after all, a longtime Bachelor presence, and he has his own fair share of romantic history with fellow franchise alums, including a certain Courtney Robertson. With Arie finally coming back as The Bachelor, it's not a leap to think that Courtney could be on Arie's season. Courtney, of course, was briefly engaged to Bachelor Ben Flajnik after winning his season in 2012, and she and Arie briefly dated in the aftermath.

Arie and Courtney dated late in 2012, but their courtship barely lasted three months before the two called it quits in January of 2013. However, despite Courtney's reputation as a villain on The Bachelor, the two remain friends. In fact, just last year, Courtney spoke about their friendship in an interview with Us Weekly, admitting that the two had what some might call a friends with benefit type of relationship. "I adore Arie," she told the magazine in 2016. "He's a great friend who I like to make out with from time to time."

Courtney returning to The Bachelor house could be what the season needs to mix things up. As previously mentioned, she was known as a bit of a villain during Ben's season, so there's no question she knows how to make dramatic television. Plus, having not only an ex-girlfriend but also a previous Bachelor contestant on the show would definitely add a new twist to the show fans have been watching for over 20 seasons. In Arie's own words, via Us Weekly: "She likes to stir the pot a little, and there's nothing wrong with that."

While it might be fun to think about Courtney being on Arie's Bachelor season, I have some serious reservations about the idea. If Courtney did get out of a limo to attend Arie's first Bachelor cocktail party, would that mean she decided she wants to be with Arie and get married? I'm cringing just thinking about the possible awkward moment if he doesn't return her feelings. And why would a woman want to date her ex at the same time as a few dozen others? If Courtney does decide to make this move, it'll certainly make things very interesting all season long.
