It may have been a particularly warm fall in most parts of the country, but now winter is here — and it’s frigid. It’s the perfect time to verse yourself on the Winter 2022 trends that debuted on the runways just a few months ago.

It’s time to dive head-first into puffer jackets, shearling coats, and weather-proof winter boots, and stock up on items that will keep you cozy without being heavy or cumbersome.

Gather inspiration from a pair of Miu Miu fur-covered thigh-high boots, or choose to emulate Chanel’s quilted ski-inspired onesie. If you’re going to freeze to death every time you walk out the door, you might as well look cute doing it.

Think: pleated midi skirts, mod mini silhouettes, knit everything, and more. Need more cold weather inspo? Some of your favorite celebs can help. Take Hailey Bieber in a knit Laquan Smith halter dress, for example. Or any one of Princess Diana’s beloved pleated skirt outfits.

Take their cue and embrace the below trends for winter 2022, straight from the runways of New York, London, Milan, and Paris. What’s more, many of these styles are available to shop right now. So, what are you waiting for? Inspiration awaits.

We only include products that have been independently selected by Bustle's editorial team. However, we may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.

All Knit Everything

Fendi

Why stick to just sweaters when it comes to knitwear? Try out skirts, dresses, coats, and more for a cozy look that will keep you warm without adding too many layers. What’s more, it’s a great way to add a bit of texture to a simpler styling.

‘60s Mod Minis

Courrèges

The shift-style mini looks are starting this winter and carrying straight through to spring 2022 (at very least!). Whether you’re looking for a skirt, dress, or coat, this look offers simple and clean lines with little fuss. These minis can be styled with everything from chunky lace-up boots to heeled Mary Janes.

Pleated Midi Skirts

3.1 Phillip Lim

Back from a few years ago, it’s time to re-invest in this tailored trend that still not only boasts romantic flair, but gorgeous movement as well. It can be worn effortlessly with everything from a crewneck knit and flats for brunch to a button-down and heels for the office.

Lilac

Jil Sander

Though pink has reigned supreme for the past few years, pale purple — or lilac — is gaining steam for winter 2022. It’s a great transitional color, as it can be styled in everything from heavy coats to trousers, midi skirts to knitwear.

Daytime Sparkle

Celine

Who says that you have to wait until evening — or New Year’s Eve — to indulge in a sparkly moment? Designers this season are all about the daytime sequin, making a case for dresses, trenches, and tops with a bit of sparkle.

Ski Season

So many designers hit the runway for fall and winter this year with chunky fair isle knits, from Rag & Bone to Molly Goddard and everyone in between. It’s a great way to stay casual but add a little après ski moment into your everyday look.

Puffer Nation

In keeping with the last few seasons, puffers are bolder than ever this winter. Be it cropped or long, the newest puffers are chunky and oversized, giving off a casual cool look that’s sporty — and stylish.

Boudoir Inspiration

The boudoir inspiration of the ‘20s is back for winter, with slip dresses galore in luxe silks and chiffons, trimmed with lace and cascading ruffles. Whether you’re opting for jeans and a cami or a slip dress and tux blazer, it’s a trend you can wear day and night.

Menswear Coats

Coats have gone structured this season, with menswear-inspired suiting taking the outerwear world by storm. Be it gray wool, herringbone, check, or the like, it’s time to take note of good tailoring with your cold-weather layering this winter.

Cropped Jackets

The midriff-bearing trend has hit the jacket category, with designers from Chanel to Laquan Smith and showing cropped suiting jackets for the coming season. That said, if you’re not into showing skin, it’s a great silhouette to pair with a long shirts and jeans or over a mini, midi, or maxi dress.
