Recreate Maisie Williams' Emmys Look

by Jessica Willingham

It's hard to nail the red carpet when you're one of the youngest starlets on the scene. You don't want to be too grown up, but you want to look like the young adult you are. Tricky, but one actress totally nailed it Sunday. Here's how to recreate Maisie Williams' Emmy 2015 makeup and hair look, because it was fresh and flawless.

In case you aren't familiar, Williams, 18, is a Game of Thrones star and one of last night's red carpet winners. She glowed in all pink, monochrome look that translated to her makeup. Hollywoodlife.com caught up with the star's makeup artist, Kindra Mann, for the secret to this romantic look.

“I was totally inspired tonight by Maisie’s retro feeling pink dress," Mann said. "I loved that the color and texture gave it a vintage feel. We wanted the makeup to feel that same way, but with a more modern twist."

Williams' dress was a gorgeous, ruffled pale pink number that was girly yet grown up. Pastels have been in all season, and Williams' looked spot on and in style.

“I wanted to give Maisie a nice sun-kissed glow, so I warmed up her skin using Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow," said Mann. "I used the darker shade to contour and warm the skin, and just applied the shimmer to the cheek bones for added glow. And, using a stipple brush, I applied La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Rose Glow to the apples of the cheeks.”

For a more everyday look, you can use a bronzer to warm the face and skip contouring (hey, it saves time!). I love palettes that include bronzer, highlight, and blush so it's easy to choose which colors to go with and it's all travel friendly.

“Maisie has incredible eyes, and I really wanted to play them up," Mann said according to Hollywoodlife.com. “We decided to take a traditional cat eye and give it a modern twist by using plummy purple shadows. Using the Dior 5 Couleurs Palette in Victoire, I blended the purples together focusing the lighter shade on the brow bone and inner eye. Next I applied Pur Minerals Eye Polish in Velvet to the outer corners, creating a cat eye effect. I then finished the eye by curling the lashes and applying a few coats of Pur Minerals Big Look Mascara before adding a few Ardell individual lashes."

Big, dramatic winged cat eyes are in for the fall season, echoing the trends of '60s and '70s stars. My favorite gel eyeliner comes in purple, so you can easily recreate this specific look or go with black for an everyday vibe.

If you're scared to go purple on the eyes this season (because you think it will come out looking like you got in a bar fight) remember: the key to nailing any complicated eye look is to blend. Blend, blend, blend until you think you can blend no more.

“For the lips we wanted a nice nude color that was a little softer than the pink in the dress," Mann said. "I started off by applying Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 to hydrate the lips. I then added Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo in #1 Pale Pink Nude to give it that perfect nude color.”

Nude is a great shade, especially when you have more dramatic eyes. This butter gloss is my favorite nude lip of all time, and looks great on all skin tones.
