Jim Carrey's Girlfriend Commits Suicide — REPORT

by Nicole Pomarico

Heartbreaking news for Jim Carrey this week. According to TMZ, Carrey's girlfriend, Cathriona White, reportedly committed suicide Monday night, and was found in her home by two of her friends before the LAPD was called. TMZ also reports that law enforcement says they believe the 30-year-old's death was caused by a drug overdose, as there were pills found next to her body. There aren't too many details, since the news is still breaking, but TMZ reports that White left a suicide note addressed to Carrey that made mention of a Sept. 24 breakup. The other contents of the alleged note have not yet been released. Bustle has reached out to Carrey’s rep for comment, but has not yet heard back.

(Update: Carrey released the following statement to Just Jared: "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.")

Carrey and White have been dating on and off since they first met in 2012. Although their first attempt at a relationship reportedly only lasted a few months, they are said to have gotten back together earlier this year, and were spotted holding hands in New York last May. In the past, Carrey has called White "lovely" while talking about her.

On the same day as White and Carrey's alleged breakup, she tweeted a message about "signing off" from Twitter.
