9 Halloween Netflix Films To Pair With Candy

by Caitlyn Callegari

Halloween preparation as an adult is hard. When you were a kid, the only responsibility you had was figuring out your costume and deciding whether or not to bring one large garbage bag with you trick-or-treating or two, if you were expecting a particularly large haul. Now, we are tasked with not receiving, but buying the treats. And, not only that, hand them out. Which, is actually an activity I quite enjoy, because of Netlfix Halloween movies and fun-size candy are a very important ritual that I observe every single year.

I don’t advise a Halloween movie marathon when you’re handing out candy by your lonesome on the creepiest night of the year if you’re particularly faint of heart. But, if you love to get spooked, this here is for you. Thankfully, Netflix has supplied us with a copious amount of Halloween-esque movies to get us through the holiday or, you know, those days (or weeks) before it, in which we sit there, selfishly eating all the fun size candy we actually bought for the neighborhood children. So long as we make another trip out to the store to refill our stocks before the big day, I think we’re good.

Here are the best Netflix Halloween movies to pair with fun-size candies that you can grab right out of the trick-or-treating bowl.

1. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Candy: Mini York Peppermint Patties

Why: Like the movie, it combines the best two elements of Halloween and Christmas. Which are obviously not joy and togetherness, but actually chocolate and candy canes. Plus, it'd make Jack happy with the best of both worlds.

2. Scream

Candy: Pop Rocks Fun Size Candy Packs

Why: To pay homage to the scariest part of the movie, which is clearly when the popcorn is on the stove and about to burst. Let's keep things exciting here, people.

3. Devil

Candy: Hot Tamales Snack Size Pack

Why: To intensify the the literal flame of terror, proximity of body heat, and lacking air supply that the characters are experiencing in the elevator. Also, the devil is from Hell, where it is, you guessed it, super hot.

4. Children Of The Corn

Candy: Brach's Halloween Candy Corn Treat Packets

Why: Was there really any other choice?

5. Saw

Candy: Fun Size Snickers

Why: Because they're freakin' delicious, and you're going to need a healthy dose of comfort food to counteract the horrific, unspeakable acts that this movie commits.

6. The Omen

Candy: Fun Size Twix

Why: Because there are two in there, and you need a candy to share because you are clearly not watching this film by your lonesome.

7. The Silence Of The Lambs

Candy: Fun Size Skittle Packs

Why: Typically, I'd suggest fava beans and a nice Chianti, but this isn't about catering to more refined, cannibalistic pallets. Honestly, it's because you need to "taste the rainbow" while being subjected to such a high degree of suspense and doom.

8. The Sixth Sense

Candy: Sour Patch Kids Candy Treat Sized Packs

Why: Because it makes your hair stand on end, but, like the movie, it's still oddly enjoyable. Also, sour foods sort of evoke an uncomfortable and unfamiliar feeling in us, doesn't it? Almost like... dun, dun, dun... a sixth sense.

9. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory

Candy: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Snack Size Treats

Why: So you can dive into those delectable, foil wrapped pieces of Heaven like Augustus did that chocolate river. #NoRegrets

So, eat up... and hopefully don't throw up. Things can get kinda dicey with all that suspense and gore, you know?
