Why True HP Fans Know To Dread Friday, October 16

A lot of Harry Potter fans are wigging out because it just happens to be Harry Potter movie weekend on ABC Family. And while I too fully intend to spend all weekend in my Hogwarts pajamas getting drunk off the magic, I have not lost enough of my wits to forget that all Harry Potter fans should dread October 16. Or at least, all Harry Potter fans who believe the long and winding fan theory that all of Trelawney's predictions came true, a theory so air tight that even Hermione Granger herself would have trouble disputing it.

For those of you who haven't been rereading the books on the subway and getting mistaken for a 16-year-old on a regular basis, behold this passage from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban:

Lavender, looking relieved, stood up, took an enormous teapot from the shelf, and put it down on the table in front of Professor Trelawney.

"Thank you, my dear. Incidentally, that thing you are dreading — it will happen on Friday the sixteenth of October."

Not to be the bearer of bad news, fellow Potterheads, but GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS EXACTLY ON THIS DAY?!

FRIDAY. THE SIXTEENTH. OF OCTOBER.

OK, OK, I know some of you are all:

But consider the fact that October 16 only falls on a Friday every four or five years, and you might be all:

SUPER SPOOPY, GUYS. SUPER. SPOOPY.

But the good news is that no matter what it is we've been dreading, we can all rest assured knowing that the nerd gods have sent us a beautiful Harry Potter marathon this weekend to take the edge off of it. We're all in this together. Well ... as long as none of us see The Grim.

(Tell Hermione I'm sorry.)
