Celebrities Celebrate ‘Back To The Future’ Day

by Emily Lackey

It’s a banner day for people who love Back to the Future, because it’s Back to the Future day! Or, in other words, the day every single child of the ‘80s and ‘90s has been waiting for: October 21, 2015, the day that Marty McFly traveled to during Back to the Future Part II. And, although the world isn’t quite like what the movie envisioned it would be on this day, there are still a lot of things that have changed since it was released — and there are still plenty of ways to celebrate.

Social media has erupted in the last 24 with tweets, posts, and pictures from the movie of DeLoreans and Marty McFly in all of his 1985 glory. The people who are celebrating this day the hardest, though? Celebrities — especially the original stars of the movie franchise. And, maybe it’s because they make enough money to buy electric sneakers and drive DeLoreans, but the way these celebrities have been commemorating the day has been almost as awesome as 1985’s version of 2015. Holding no punches and pulling out all the stops, these celebrities are celebrating Back to the Future day like it’s 1985.

Sam Esmail

The Mr. Robot creator's celebration started four days before the actual holiday.

Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul and his wife celebrated the day with straight-up style. Beer, boomboxes, and an actual Delorean.

Coldplay

Calling it one of the greatest films ever made, Coldplay showed their allegiance to Back to the Future with figurines and model DeLoreans.

Billy Zane

Since he appeared in Back to the Future Part II as one of Griff Tannen's cronies, Zane celebrated with this tweet and a throwback to his BTTF days.

Elijah Wood

Granted, Woof was young when he appeared in Back to the Future Part II, but he still celebrated the big day by making fun of the ridiculous hats the film thought future generations would wear with talk show host Conan O’Brien.

John Mayer

They might not be self-lacing sneakers, but they are Nikes.

Lea Thompson

Thompson made an appearance on The Today Show with the original dress she wore in the first film. LOVE IT.

Michael J. Fox

Even the original star of the film got into the celebrating mood through his Michael J. Fox Foundation by trying on the first ever self-lacing sneakers.

Now excuse me while I go celebrate by Facetiming everyone I know and praying that someone invents a flying car ASAP.
