Treat Your Ears To This Drake & Bieber Mashup

by Kristie Rohwedder

When two great pieces of music collide and the end product also happens to be great, it feels like a cosmic event. A sonic meteor shower. A pop culture lunar eclipse. And that pop culture lunar eclipse is something to admire. It is something to behold. It is something to document. It is something to post about on social media. Such a pop culture lunar eclipse occurred on the Internet this week when singer/songwriter Brayton Bowman released “Bieber’s Hotline,” a mashup of Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” and Drake’s “Hotline Bling.”

Justin case (is it too late to say I'm sorry? I tried to stop myself before that pun happened, but I was no match for the all-powerful corny joke) my feelings regarding "Bieber's Hotline" are not abundantly clear, allow me to spell it out: Bowman's funky take on the two gigantic hits is positively stellar. Go ahead and put it in your ears right now.

Are mashups not your thing? I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, that's your prerogative, etcetera. But! Do not write off "Bieber's Hotline" just yet, for this particular mashup could be your thing. Why's that? It isn't your conventional, two-sonically-disparate-songs-smashed-together mashup, that's why. Because Bowman does all of the singing, it's more like a mashup/cover song hybrid. Trust me, it's terrific.

Oh, you don't trust me? Then why don't you give it a listen and hear the magic for yourself:

I don't know about you, but when I hear this, I feel like throwing on a chunky knit sweater and dancing it out in a purple cube.
