'Sherlock's Getting More Seasons, Already Plotted

by Alanna Bennett

Sherlock Season 3 may not have actually aired in the US yet, but we're already looking ahead to Seasons 4 and 5, and good news: Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss have Sherlock plotted out through then.

Forget that given the show's current trajectory, Sherlock Seasons 4 & 5 probably won't air until 2016 and never, respectively — it's just somewhat comforting to know that Moffat and Gatiss (the latter known lovingly in the fandom as Godtiss) are still so passionate about Sherlock Holmes that they couldn't wait to plan seasons ahead:

Rather excitingly, Mark [Gatiss] and I [Steven Moffat], for no particular reason, we just got out of the rain and sat at the top of the [Sherlock] production bus … and we just started plotting out what we could do in the future. And we plotted out the whole of series four and five. The ideas we had that day, I thought were the best we’ve ever had.

If those aren't excited fanboys I don't know what would be.

Moffat said these things at a recent screening for the Sherlock Season 3 finale, "His Last Vow," which airs this Sunday in the UK and already has us quaking in our boots despite the fact that we haven't even seen it yet.

Regardless of the ways in which that finale could break our hearts (or our Watson, or his Holmes), there seems to be something to look forward to in the years to come.
