It's Channing Tatum as (LEGO) Superman

by Alanna Bennett

Look, I'm a little behind on this LEGO Movie business. From what I can gather it's a movie...starring animated LEGOS? 'K. Also Chris Pratt is there, which I am all kinds of down for. Anyway, there's a new The LEGO Movie trailer, and in it Channing Tatum is a superhero, which is neat. According to my Internet research — because I am nothing if not 100 percent professional — The LEGO Movie is a 3D animated feature film being released Feb. 7. It is based off the line of LEGO construction toys, because capitalism. It includes voices from the likes of Chris Pratt (he seems to be the main construction dude), Morgan Freeman (he plays a wizard!), Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell, Nick Offerman, and Liam Neeson. Oh, and Channing Tatum.

Here is the plot according to the notoriously trustworthy Wikipedia:

In the Lego universe, an ordinary minifigure named Emmet (Pratt) is mistaken as being the Special—the last living Master Builder—who can save the Lego universe. With the help of an old wizard named Vitruvius (Freeman), a tough young lady named Wyldstyle (Banks), and Batman (Arnett) along with a small troupe of LEGO DC Heroes, Emmet will have to unlearn everything he saw in the instructions and learn the power of imagination to defeat the evil tyrant Lord Business (Ferrell) who is bent on destroying the nature of Lego universe and recreating it as he sees fit by gluing it together.

From the trailer it seems like the kind of movie which might be constructed entirely out of references — see: Abraham Lincoln and the Statue of Liberty chilling with Superman in the still above. Which could be a good time, if that's your thing.
