First Photo Of Mark Zuckerberg's Baby

by Melissah Yang

A week after announcing his magnanimous declaration that he will give 99 percent of his wealth to philanthropic purposes, Mark Zuckerberg shared the first photo of Max, he and his wife Priscilla Chan's newborn daughter. The precious image was shared on Facebook (of course) Tuesday, and you could instantly see the bond which prompted the new parents to pledge billions to their charitable organization, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which strives to advance human achievements in health, education, scientific research, and energy. Fatherhood is already looking quite good on the billionaire CEO.

In the photo, the Facebook co-founder lies next to Max, who's already sporting quite a full head of black hair. (Seriously, didn't Chan just give birth to this baby?!) While Max faces away from the camera and toward her dad, Zuckerberg, wearing his usual simple T-shirt, lovingly smiles on with the most peaceful expression on his face. Chan isn't in the photo, but I'd imagine she's the one holding the camera.

The photo is captioned, "Full of joy with little Max," and the intimate moment lives up to Zuckerberg's Facebook mission: connecting the world to share important life moments such as this.

The photo also shows why he and Chan are donating nearly all of their Facebook shares to charitable causes. In a letter penned to Max (whose name is short for Maxima), Zuckerberg detailed his desire to create a better world for all children; not just his own. "We are committed to doing our small part to help create this world for all children. We will give 99% of our Facebook shares — currently about $45 billion — during our lives to join many others in improving this world for the next generation."

Clearly, the Max pledge is worth it.
