#ExplainAFilmPlotBadly Is Winning Twitter

Once in a while, Twitter really, truly wows me. This time, the reason why is the #ExplainAFilmPlotBadly trend that's currently taking over the site. It might not sound like much, but I assure you, it’s worth the time you’ll spend getting lost in the hashtag abyss. More simply, it’s the most entertaining way I can think of to ruin your favorite films. And, by “ruin” I mean that they are simplified so greatly that major dramas and terrifying horror films appear to be comedic. And, OK, a few tweets make some lauded films seem downright silly. But, that’s the whole fun of it, and trust me, it's totally great.

I don’t know if people give the social media obsessed sector of the human race enough credit sometimes. People on the internet are really witty, y’all. And, it’s pretty cool to see a platform like Twitter give a voice to those creative peeps who otherwise wouldn’t get much exposure for their talents. Also, isn’t it nice to join in together on something as a greater community, even if it is in the form of making fun of everyone's favorite movies? Man, this hashtag is making me emotional.
