15 Shirt Dress To Rock All Winter Long

by Eliza Florendo

As I get older, I've ditched the "fashion before comfort" rule because, well, pajamas are the greatest thing in the world. Luckily, one of 2015's biggest trends is actually comfort, one of those being shirt dresses that basically looks insanely chic, but makes you feel like you're wearing a nightgown and chilling in your home all day long. Call it working from home-office.

With the rise of seven day dressing (basically, the lines of work wear and play wear blurring), it's been increasingly easier to cut down on your wardrobe and really focus on staple pieces that'll double as work-appropriate and happy-hour appropriate. One of my favorite pieces that fit in this category is the shirt dress. You may style it with some pumps and a blazer for work, but when you're off to your favorite bar, you can pair it with some badass booties and leather moto jacket. With a little dark lipstick, you've basically transformed from day tonight.

And the best part is that it works all year long. Since it's the perfect layering piece, you can totally wear it bare-legged in the summer and fall, and throw it on with tights during late fall/winter. And, since it's just one piece, you don't even have to worry about picking out trousers and a top! It's a one stop shop.

Of course, Olivia Wilde completely nails this look at the Meadowland screening in New York City. She paired her grey oxford style shirt dress with black knee-high boots. So in honor of the three months of winter we have left behind, consider making the shirt dress your uniform all season long.
