Matt Lewis' Alan Rickman Tribute Is Heartbreaking

Get ready for this heartbreaking day to become just a little more heartbreaking: Joining the few Harry Potter cast members who have posted tributes to the late and great Alan Rickman, who passed away the age of 69 after suffering from cancer, franchise star Matthew Lewis posted his own tribute to Rickman on Instagram early Thursday morning. Lewis' character Neville Longbottom may not have had a close relationship with Rickman's character, Professor Severus Snape, in the films, but based off of Lewis' caption in his tribute to Rickman, the opposite was true of his personal relationship with the esteemed actor:

I was at Leavesden Studios today when I heard the news. As I walked through the canteen I thought of Alan queuing up for his lunch with us mere mortals. I recalled the trailer in which he offered me some of the greatest advice I ever received about this mad profession we shared. Being back in those corridors made me remember a lot of things and I will treasure those memories all my life. He inspired my career more than he ever knew and I'll miss him.

Who else is sobbing right about now? Lewis' tribute joins the many pouring in from actors who have worked with Rickman over the course of his career — Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Emma Thompson (who also worked with Rickman in Love Actually) each released statements honoring the actor and his legendary work.

Rickman's death was confirmed by his family, according to BBC.
