Will Kandi's 'Housewives' Restaurant Ever Open?

by Kayla Hawkins

Always workaholics, Kandi and her husband, Todd, have been discussing opening a restaurant in addition to their television and music projects (not to mention Kandi's pregnancy). And in the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, they actually gave some details: Kandi & Todd's restaurant would be called "Old Lady Gang's," in a tribute to Kandi's mother and aunts, whose Southern cooking would serve as the inspiration and the in house recipe book for the restaurant.

In an interview back in 2014, Kandi promised that OLG's was incoming, but since then it looks like the process has stalled, particularly because the actual Old Lady Gang needed some time to think about whether or not they were in support of the idea. Aunt Bertha was against the concept, despite being the self proclaimed best cook in the family. And Mama Joyce was smart enough to ask about the timeline, particularly because Kandi would be delivering her baby just a month before the scheduled opening. So even though the segment ended on a positive note, it looks like OLG's is being pushed back into later in the new year, for understandable reasons. Kandi still has her reality show and her new song to think about — she should be eating more soul food than preparing soul food.

But as Kandi posted on Instagram while the episode was airing, the restaurant is still a work in progress. And they put together Todd's Wild West photoshoot idea — including Aunt Bertha, right in the middle. I can see why Mama Joyce was so excited about the idea, since she looks absolutely fantastic in the photo. And Kandi knows her way around food, too, so there's no doubt that the menu designed by her aunts and mom would be amazing.

So even though there's still no concrete plans for when exactly Old Lady Gang's is going to open, Atlanta soul foodies should be excitedly waiting for some news from the Burruss-Tuckers... possibly after newborn baby Ace grows up a little bit.
