Celebs Slayed The NAACP Image Awards Red Carpet

by Marc Cuenco

There was no shortage of fabulous style at the 2016 NAACP Image Awards red carpet, where celebrities including Kerry Washington, Michael B. Jordan and Gabourey Sidibe came out to honor the outstanding work of artists in entertainment and literature. Also in attendance was Hollywood power couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, who are two of the most outspoken celebrities boycotting the Oscars due to the lack of diversity and people of color nominated for the film industry's highest honor. The NAACP Image Awards hopes to counter that lack of representation at the Oscars with a truly diverse group of nominees and attendees.

Just like the other major awards shows of the season, the NAACP Image Awards delivered star power and a whole lot of glamour. Even though there wasn't a specific style that dominated the red carpet, there was a handful of celebs who showed up in body-positive ensembles, from Chrissy Teigen in her leg-baring maternity gown, to Taraji P. Henson's body-hugging take on evening wear, to Kerry Washington's plunging neckline.

Pinkett Smith looked radiant in a teal ball gown, one of the standout dresses of the evening. Taking a more fashion-forward approach to their Image Awards looks were TV stars Ross, Serayah, and the ever-badass Sidibe. So, without further ado, here are the best outfits from the 47th annual NAACP Image Awards:

The Oscar-nominated actress often opts for bright gowns, but this all black ensemble looks so sophisticated and stunning.
