The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailer Gives Fans A Treat

by Kadeen Griffiths

Yeah, OK, sure, we could all be watching the Super Bowl to see which team is going to emerge victorious when it comes to the skill of shoving their way from one end of a field to the other with a leather ball. We could be. But many of us tune in to the Super Bowl to enjoy the commercials and trailers that companies paid big bucks to have aired during the game. So, when the X-Men: Apocalypse Super Bowl trailer aired, no one was particularly surprised — until we actually watched it, of course. The Super Bowl trailer marks the first time that the X-Men: Apocalypse trailers have shown us Oscar Isaac's face, in his role as the titular Apocalypse, and it's just about the most epic thing you'll witness all night. (Aside from Beyoncé and Bruno Mars' halftime mash-up, of course.)

In the trailer, the X-Men are getting their mutant behinds handed back to them in one way or another. There's a war going on, and the trailer reinforces that with plenty of action shots. Quicksilver is running. Magneto is smashing bridges. Apocalypse is smashing Mystique's face. And, above all the wonders that the trailer gave us to behold, it was the long shots of Oscar Isaac's face that will really be staying with fans all night. Seriously, look at him.

Even covered in blue paint and all dolled up like the world's first mutant, Oscar Isaac is still quite a sight to behold. I don't know how the X-Men can stand to face him, honestly. I'd take one look at him and run as fast as my mutant legs could carry me in the other direction. The bittersweet feeling that fans get knowing that this could very well be Jennifer Lawrence's final X-Men movie is tempered by the fact that we get yet another outlet to feed into our Oscar Isaac crush, while we wait for the next Star Wars movie to make its way to theaters.
