"Things Lincoln Didn't Say" Is Hilarious

Happy birthday, Abe! Seems like just yesterday (er, 207 years ago, to be exact) our beloved 16th president was born, on Feb. 12, 1809. President Lincoln is arguably best known for abolishing slavery, his tall top hat, and that iconic beard. More somberly, though, many remember the night when John Wilkes Booth assassinated Lincoln in Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. in 1865. During Lincoln's second inaugural speech, he said these famous words that were eventually inscribed on the wall near the Lincoln Memorial in D.C.: "With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds..." Lincoln always had a way with words, but today, people tend to attribute many quotes and things that Lincoln didn't say.

Although Lincoln was not around to celebrate his birthday, Twitter quickly blew up with tweets commemorating the late, great president. The hashtag #ThingsLincolnDidntSay became the official way for users to honor Lincoln with funny, witty, and sometimes borderline inappropriate quips crediting Lincoln with, well, things he just didn't say back in the 1800s.
