What Time Will The Connecticut Primary End?

Of the five presidential primary states voting on Tuesday, April 24, Connecticut has the third-highest number of pledged delegates at stake for both Republicans — 28 up for grabs — and Democrats — 55 delegates. Naturally, with five sets of primaries on Tuesday, it's easy to forget the times to watch for results. In general, most primary states are on similar schedules, but over the past weeks these times have varied a bit, so it is always good for political aficionados to stay watchful for poll closing times. In this case, what time will the Connecticut primary end?

Interestingly, and luckily for the forgetful political junkie, not only are all five of Tuesday's states in Eastern time, but all polls close at the same time — 8:00 p.m. — so voters and informed citizens alike will begin seeing televised results in the mid-to-late evening. Often, exit poll results are released prior to the closing of polls, but full results are only released toward the end of the day — at the earliest, this may happen a few hours before polls in a given state close.

For Connecticut residents, the Secretary of State's website lists information pertaining to citizens who are not yet registered to vote and wish to register and vote on Election Day. Primaries in this state are closed, so independent voters are barred from participation on this day. Registration to vote on Tuesday is needed by 12:00 p.m., and information for voters is listed on MyTimeToVote.com's Connecticut voter information section.

As for the candidates, it appears that Ted Cruz has not visited Connecticut, but has spent the majority of his time in Pennsylvania, where he has a much higher chance of winning delegates. Hillary Clinton has made a publicized stop in Bridgeport, where she discussed her willingness to battle the gun lobby and the American epidemic of gun violence, as well as her plans to defend the Affordable Care Act.

RealClearPolitics' poll average — which includes polls from Quinnipiac and Emerson — are alluding to a Donald Trump victory in the Constitution State, as well as Hillary Clinton for the Democratic winner in Connecticut on Tuesday, but again, these are polls and not prophecies. Only Tuesday has the power to reveal the true will of the people.
