This Is When The 2016 Met Gala Starts

by Sienna Fantozzi

Monday May 2 marks what is basically the Academy Awards of fashion — the Met Gala. It's the time when celebrities take crazy risks, make major statements, and just go plain out over-the-top, so you don't want to miss a minute of it. Wondering what time the 2016 Met Gala starts? Here's when you need to be monitoring social media so you don't miss a second of the amazing fashion.

The Met Gala is always a huge event, but this year it's going to be even more buzzworthy because Taylor Swift is cochair. Her outfit was already going to be good, and now it's just going to be next-freaking-level. In addition to that, there's always the excitement of what stars are attending, what avant-garde creation they'll be wearing, and which designer they'll be attending with. So that's a whole lot to look forward to, and needless to say, you aren't going to want to miss a second once the stars hit the red carpet.

This year, E! News will be broadcasting the red carpet starting at 7 p.m. ET. According to The Cut, it's the first time ever the award show-regulars will be covering the celebrity arrivals. And I'm pretty stoked.

Even though the carpet doesn't start until 7, I have zero doubt that celebs will start sneaking peeks on social media hours before then. So start paying attention around 5:00/5:30 p.m. ET, in case anyone decides to be fashionably early.
