How To Buy Kate Middleton's 'Vogue' Top

by Rosie Narasaki

A certain Duchess has officially made her first official British Vogue appearance. The beautifully shot editorial showcases her low key-yet-stylish vibe, with wide-brimmed felt tops, covet-worthy suede jackets, and some truly stylish striped Breton tops. So, how can you steal her style? And perhaps more specifically, how can you buy Kate Middleton's Vogue top?

Well, luckily for us, it might be easier than you'd think. As opposed to the absolutely gorgeous £4,495 Burberry calf suede coat she sports on the cover, her casual striped top is actually quite affordable. The top itself comes from Petit Bateau — a brand that, as you may have guessed from the name, was originally a children's line. It's famously popular with young mothers, which is fitting as Kate's editorial coincides rather nicely with Princess Charlotte's first birthday.

Unfortunately, though, as we've come to expect by just about every single high street garment Kate ever touches, it looks like the red and black striped top (with the adorable pocket detailing) is no longer available from Petit Bateau. Fingers crossed that they'll restock the piece soon in the wake of all the Middleton-driven business that's sure to be coming their way, no? At any rate, let's take a look at a few of the other moderately-priced striped tops from the popular French brand.

It's like a springier version of the black and red top Kate sports in the editorial.

Um, those sailor buttons on the left shoulder are kind of to die for.

A classic striped sweater like this will never go out of style.

Breton stripes aside, it's worth mentioning that Kate rather famously hasn't ever shot an editorial before — so, of course it makes sense that she'd choose one of the biggest publications around for her first. It's a notable appearance for a lot of reasons — she's only the third British royal to be photographed for Vogue (she follows Princess Di, and Princess Anne, who famously appeared on a 1971 cover). Plus, it's British Vogue's centennial issue, which is also quite exciting.

Oh, and to top everything off? The shots are already on display at the National Portrait Gallery — AKA one of Kate's most noteworthy patronages. It's an all-around win for Kate — so why not celebrate with a Duchess-approved striped sweater or two?
