'Goosebumps' Movie Is Getting Sequel

Brace yourself for more spooks and ghouls: Sony Pictures is moving forward with its plans for a Goosebumps sequel movie. Based on the bestselling book series by R.L. Stine, the movie follows the 2015 film, Goosebumps, which starred Jack Black as Stine. Black is not confirmed for a sequel, but the goal is to have him return.

In the first film, a teenage boy teams up with the daughter of Mr. Shivers, aka R.L. Stine, after the author's imaginary demons are set free in their Delaware town. In addition to Black, the movie starred Scandal actor Dylan Minnette and The Odd Life Of Timothy Green's Odeya Rush. The film, which boasts a 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, earned about $80 million domestically and $77 million internationally.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first movie was in the works for 18 years. The key to its success proved to lie in two decisions: the inclusion of Stine as a character in the film and the inclusion of multiple monsters from various Goosebumps stories.

Kids of the '90s will definitely remember another screen adaptation of the spooky novels: from 1995 to 1998, the Goosebumps television series frightened young children (and permanently scarred an entire generation of millennials). Each episode focused on a particular novel, including Night of the Living Dummy II, The Haunted Mask, and Welcome To Dead House.
