Good news, social media curators: Facebook is rolling out a new feature that will allow you to make your page shinier than ever. If you want to know the secret to success, then it's time to get #learnt on how to use Facebook's "hide from your timeline" feature. In the past, you could hide things from your timeline after post them, but using the new feature, users will be able to decide when they post something whether or not they want it to appear in their personal timeline before the content is even posted. Essentially, you can drop something in your friends' newsfeeds without it ever bumping that very important collection of pictures where you are posing with a taco down on your personal page. Huzzah!

Facebook started rolling out the feature today to a small percentage of people globally, and it has only extended to web so far (sorry, mobile-happy Facebookers), but it will be incredibly easy to use. In the status box on the top of your newsfeed, there will be a box you can check that says "Hide From Your Timeline". All you have to do is tap it, and voilà! The integrity of your FB page isn't compromised, and your content still goes out into the big, wide world.

You might be wondering what exactly you might use this for — after all, Facebook is notorious for ~lasting forever~ in a world of more ephemeral social media like Snapchat and Periscope. Lord knows "On This Day" is going to be a much better gravestone for all of us than a plain old rock will ever be.

But this is Facebook's foray away from that. Similar to Facebook Live, the platform is introducing this as an instant, connective way of posting — a way to ask a quick question to whoever happens to be online, or maybe something you don't want Grandma to stumble on later. People who are planning on getting into heated political debates this season, this might just be the godsend you were looking for. But be aware — anything you post will still pop up in search. So keep your eyes peeled for the rollout, and keep it classy(ish)!
