Does This 'GoT' Actor Know The Iron Throne Winner?

Lord Varys and Tyrion Lannister in a 'Game of Thrones' scene

The latest series cast to take the stage at San Diego Comic Con is the Game of Thrones panel — and you know there was some good stuff to come out of this. There were some amusing recollections and anecdotes from cast members Sophie Turner (Sansa), Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton), Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos), Faye Marsay (The Waif), Ian Hempstead Wright (Bran), Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), John Bradley-West (Samwell Tarly), and Conleth Hill (Varys), of course — but perhaps the most telling nugget of spoiler-ific goodness was dropped casually into the conversation thanks to Hill himself. Via Entertainment Weekly, Hill may know a major answer that us fans have wanted to know since the show began. When the entire panel was asked, "Who do you think will end up on the Iron Throne?" Hill responded, "I know, but I can't say." Uh, excuse me, Mr. Hill but you need to explain yourself ASAP.

This statement has huge implications if Hill is indeed serious. Varys is intimately connected with, as of the end of Season 6, only one major contender for the Iron Throne. Quick quiz: Do you remember who? Yeah, I knew you'd have the answers. It's none other than Daenerys Targaryen, the badass Mother of Dragons. Varys has been aligned with Daenerys for a long time now, with no signs that he'll be a turncoat any time soon. At the end of Season 6, he was seen on the same boat as Daenerys as she sailed for King's Landing. After securing the Tyrell and Martell armies as Daenerys' support, Varys has been a key member of the uprising that is about to come knocking on Cersei Lannister's door. This makes Varys (and by extension, Hill) very much in on all the major plot points.

So did Hill just give away the ending to the entire series? I wouldn't worry too much. Things are still subject to change, primarily the script. Filming for the penultimate season has yet to begin; perhaps Hill may find he doesn't actually know how things end after all, once he sees the script. There's also a big chance that Hill is being coy with us, the ravenous Game of Thrones fandom. I mean, why give away all the spoilers when there's so much time to draw the process out?

In the meantime, please amuse yourself with one of the many reactions people are having to Hill at Comic Con, sporting a luscious head of hair.
