How Long Does It Take To Evolve Eevee?

I was trading Pokédexes with a friend the other night when he asked me how I was able to evolve my Eevee into a Vaporeon (named Mermaid, BTW). The Pokémon's popularity post-evolution potential definitely has people stressing out about when Eevee will evolve, especially when you're not able to catch a bunch at one time. Well, if you're wondering "when" in the sense of next week versus next month, I could not tell you. I can, however, give you the stats you need to know when it comes to evolving your Pokéfriend, from how many candies it takes to evolve an Eevee to the amount you'll need to catch.

Now, there are a few things to consider when it comes to evolving Eevee, the Pokémon famed to evolve into 3+ other creatures (and we'll tackle that plus in case this game ever goes past the OG 150 monsters). If you're only focused on getting a specific Eevee evolution, your journey will be quick and pretty painless. As you probably know by now, it's incredibly easy to manipulate which Eevee evolution you get: just nickname the critter with the corresponding Eevee brother. So, if you just need to get a Vaporeon or something, this should be a cinch. If you're more focused on catching 'em all, though, you're gonna have a longer wait. But, one at a time, here is everything you need to know.

Typically, it only takes 25 pieces of candy to evolve one Eevee. Now, you can definitely hatch an Eevee and get those candies a little quicker, but that takes a lot of luck and a lot of walking: Eevees are usually found in 10 km eggs. So, when it comes to catching Eevees organically in the world, you typically have to get at least seven of them. Taking that a step further, if you want to get every Eevee evolution, then you'll probably need to catch about 21 total. Now, whether these are realistic expectations or not probably depends on what kind of area you live in.

My friend and I are both city dwellers, and the upside of that is you can't throw a rock without hitting a Pokeétop. But Eevees are not, I explained to him, native to urban dwellings. I can find one or two if I skirt around the native parks, but that's the best I can do. Those who live in a suburban area, however, will note that it's a Eevee-friendly place to be. For you guys, you'll be able to evolve your Eevee in no time.

As for those stranded in the big city? Maybe consider a weekend trip to your parents or boring grown-up friends. Evolving an Eevee can be done, no matter where you live... but you may need to search far and wide if you want to get it over with quickly.
