11 Delicious Beauty Products You Bought To Eat

There existed many weird makeup products in the ‘90s and early ‘00s that might have made you question the sanity of their creators. It was as if Harley Quinn had been let loose in the labs. However, makeup you used to buy to eat was, of course, peculiar in the best ways possible. Perhaps Willy Wonka collaborated with the big beauty houses during this time period in order to get us all hooked on sugary treats for life. But hey, I wasn't complaining.

Whatever the reason behind the sudden explosion of delicious makeup products, chances are you couldn’t get enough yummy beauty. I lapped it all up like a hungry kitten, personally. Although delectable, there was one huge flaw with these items: We'd apply them, lick them all off in seconds, and have to apply them again.

The notion of basically-edible makeup is honestly one I wish had taken off more than it has. Sure, we have Too Faced's delicious-smelling chocolate and peach products in our lives these days. But IMO, the world needs more makeup tempting us to slide our credit cards simply because it smells good enough to consume.

So in order to get your tastebuds tingling, here are a bunch of makeup products you used to buy to eat, because if it wasn’t yummy, it wasn’t worth wearing.

1. Bonne Belle Lip Smackers

3 Lip Smacker Lip Balms, $13.99, ebay.com

It seemed that every man, woman, and child of the '90s had a Lip Smacker lip balm, but the choice of flavors was as unique as you were.

2. Naturistics Sweet Lips

Lot Of 12 Naturistics Sweet Lips Lip Gloss, $12, ebay.com

There was something very familiar about the toothpaste-style package of Naturistics and the flavor combinations were genius.

3. Lancôme Juicy Tubes

Lancôme Juicy Tubes Lip Gloss Peach Nectar Full Size, $0.99, ebay.com

Lancôme Juicy Tubes were a crucial part of the early '00s cool girl starter kit. I would sneakily apply them in class, but be so gutted if I got caught and my beloved Juicy Tube was confiscated.

4. Urban Decay Edible Body Powders

Urban Decay Lickable Edible Shimmer Marsh Mallow Powder, $75, ebay.com

Looking back, Urban Decay's Edible Body Powders seem more than a little bizarre, but in the early '00s, they were totally legit.

5. Bonne Belle Lip Lix

Lip Lix Espresso Yo Self Lip Gloss, $7.99, ebay.com

Although Bonne Bell Lip Smackers were loved by most folks with a set of lips, sister product Lip Lix — with flavors like "Mocha Joke" — was for the more discerning palette.

6. Kissing Koolers

Lot Of 2 Maybelline Kissing Koolers — Watermelon Swirl — '90s, $18, ebay.com

From the misspelling of the word "Coolers," to the funky packaging, to the products' flavors, there was so much to love about Kissing Koolers.

7. Candy Kisses Lip Balm

Candy Kisses Flavored Lip Balm Tin Bubble Gum Drop, $2.49, ebay.com

The Candy Kisses tins seemed like such a novelty compared to the more popular lipstick-style tubes of flavored lip balm in circulation at the time.

8. Jessica Simpson's Dessert Beauty Line

Jessica Simpson Dessert Treats Dreamy Chocolate Whipped Cream Body Cream, $14.99, ebay.com

Depending on how strict your parents were when you were growing up, you may have hidden your edible Dessert products encompassing the tagline "sexy girls have dessert" away from their beady eyes.

9. Stila Lip Glaze

Lip Glaze, $22, stilacosmetics.com

There was just something so satisfying about clicking the bottom of these lip glosses. They were the beauty equivalent of a mechanical pencil, but you got a delicious surprise instead of lead.

10. Lip Rageous Lip Balm

Lip Rageous Assorted Lip Balm — 120 Count, $58.99, amazon.com

In addition to the wacky name, the familiarity of the Lip Rageous flavors, often utilized in popular candy and Slush Puppie flavors of the time, was enough to make me want to collect all of these zany lip balms.

11. Mary-Kate And Ashley Sweet And Glossy Flavored Lip Gloss

1 Mary-Kate And Ashley Sweet And Glossy Flavored Lip Gloss Brown Sugar, $3.99, ebay.com

Anything that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen used, you had to have too. Duh.

If only we could go back to the days when the main thing we worried about was reaching the bottom of our Juicy Tubes. At least we can still get your hands on these products to make adult life a little sweeter.
