How To Get Runway-Ready Skin Without Foundation

The clothes at Fashion Week may get all the glory, but at some shows, the beauty looks coming down the runway are just as important as the garments themselves. At the Lacoste SS17 show on Saturday morning, the models made a skin-tastic statement by walking the runway with no foundation on and still managed to look flawless, which of course leaves us all wondering: How can we get runway ready skin without foundation?!

While it doesn't hurt that models have prettttty flawless faces to begin with, thanks to a few simple MAC products we mere mortals can also achieve the look. I spoke to makeup artist Mayia Alléaume backstage at the Lacoste show about her decision to forego foundation and how, exactly, she got the models' skin ready for its big debut. In a nutshell: She prepped and primed them so well before their makeup application that foundation was no longer necessary.

In keeping the models bare-faced, Alléaume's goal was to let their own personalities and glows shine through rather than covering them up. She liked the idea of keeping the male and female models looking fresh and uninhibited. "Keep it clean, fresh, and pure," she dictated to the team of artists working backstage.

Fear not: With only a few MAC products, us regular humans (aka non-models) can also easily achieve flawless, runway ready skin without foundation.

Here's what you need:

1. Moisturize & Hydrate

Mineralize Charged Water Face and Body Lotion, $33, MAC

This moisturizing cream goes on smoothly and absorbs into skin almost immediately, leaving you with an even, glowing complexion. It can be used on your face and body, and is infused with gems, which IMO makes it infinitely cooler.

2. Conceal Imperfections

Conceal and Correct Palette, $40, MAC

The MAC team concealed the models' blemishes and imperfections using the "Conceal and Correct" palette. The palette includes four concealers and two correctors that can be used individually or combined to match any skin tone. The formula gives full coverage and has a natural finish that helps correct skin tone and conceal any imperfections.

3. Highlight Generously

Prep and Prime Highlighter, $27, N ordstrom

Use this highlighter on your cheek bones, brow bones and on the bridge of your nose to add extra glow to your bare face.

4. Control Shine

Mineralize Timecheck Lotion, $45, N ordstrom

This product was truly the MAC team's secret weapon backstage at the Lacoste show. It instantly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and helps to hydrate and smooth out skin. According to Allaéume, this also help give models the powdery finish they needed to not look greasy or oily walking down the runway.

5. Condition Lips

Lip Conditioner, $16, Nordstrom

When taking care of your skin, it's important not to forget about your lips! Just because they're a slightly different color than the rest of your face it doesn't mean they don't need love too. Moisturize your lips with this clear, nourishing lip conditioner, which can be worn on its own or under a colored lipstick or lipgloss.

And just like that, you're ready to walk the Lacoste show. *Hair Flip*
