'Supergirl' Should Bring This Hero To Her City

by Michelle Lulic

Kara Danvers is flying into the CW's Monday night line up for the second season of Supergirl. And she's not the only one. The second season of the show has already gotten a ton of buzz surrounding the fact that Superman will be appearing, fighting alongside his cousin. On top of that, Lynda Carter will guest star on Supergirl as well, who, as fans know, is notorious for playing Wonder Woman. Even though Carter won't be playing the infamous member of the "Big Three" DC superheroes, I can't help but get attached to the idea. Wonder Woman appearing on Supergirl would be an even bigger deal to me than Superman appearing — even if Carter herself can't be the one reprising the role.

In her upcoming episode of Supergirl, the former Diana Prince is instead appearing as DC Comics' latest President of the United States, Olivia Marsdin. Even without Carter in the red and blue outfit and the golden wristbands, the thought of the two female TV heroes on the same screen is still heartwarming. But it's also disheartening to think this might be as close as we'll get to seeing these two female superheroes sharing the small screen with each other. DC Comics has already proven how amazing Wonder Woman can be leading her own show, so Supergirl could be the perfect platform for Prince's television return.

Anyone could reprise the role that hasn't been seen on TV since the '90s. DC has already made the separation between film canon and TV canon pretty clear. Supergirl's Clark Kent is played by actor Tyler Hoechlin instead of Man of Steel's Henry Cavill, and The Flash's Grant Gustin has been replaced by actor Ezra Miller for his upcoming film and Justice League appearance. Gal Gadot is portraying Wonder Woman on the big screen, but anyone could snatch up the role on the small screen. And someone should, because it would only add to the girl power and inspirational messages that Supergirl has learned to balance so well with the action and romance Kara Danvers often finds herself embroiled in.

Until that magical day comes, we'll just have to sit back and wait until Superman's introduction is out of the way in Season 2 of Supergirl.
