These "Bad Hombres" Memes & Jokes Are Really Good

by Seth Millstein

At Wednesday's presidential debate, Donald Trump said America has "some bad hombres," and pledged to "get 'em out" when talking about immigration. Needless to say, that led to a flurry of debate memes about hombres. It was a ridiculous thing to say at a debate, of course, but as many viewers quickly realized, it was a ripe source for comedy. After all, it's not too often that you hear Trump utter the word "hombres," or indeed say anything in Spanish.

"One of my first acts will be to get all of the drug lords, all of the bad ones," Trump said, apparently distinguishing between good and bad drug lords. "We have some bad, bad people in this country that have to go out. We're going to get them out, we're going to secure the border, and once the border is secure, at a later date, we will make a determination as to the rest. But we have some bad hombres here that we're going to get them out."

Given Trump's documented racism against Mexicans, it was perhaps uncouth for him to casually dip into Spanish while touting his hardline, anti-immigrant policy. Nevertheless, he did exactly that, and not surprisingly, Twitter responded exactly as you'd expect.

Trump Becomes Romneyesque

Trump has been at loggerheads with Mitt Romney for most of this campaign, but "bad hombres" was indeed a bit of a Romneyism.

A Good Name For An Indie Band...

"Bad hombres," though a terrible phrase to utter during a debate, would be a good name for a lot of other things.

...Or An Old-School Video Game

It's not a real game, but if it was, it would probably be more enjoyable than this debate.

The Return Of That Bernie Look

It took "bad hombres" to make this gif relevant again. I welcome its triumphant return.

Trump As Cormac McCarthy

This is 100 percent the kind of thing you'd read in a Cormac McCarthy novel.

The True 'Bad Hombres'

This is a picture of Trump's motorcade from a few weeks ago. Slap "BAD HOMBRES" in big yellow font on top of it and you've got the VHS cover of a seedy 1970s cop film.

Maybe Trump Is A "Bad Hombre?"

A valid observation!

A Biker Gang, Perhaps?

The more you think about it, the more you realized how versatile of a term "bad hombres" really is.

SNL Fodder In The Making

There is a zero percent chance that Alec Baldwin, who's been playing Trump on Saturday Night Live, didn't grin when he heard Trump say "bad hombres."

So far, this debate has been a nasty, aggressive affair. But it wasn't a complete waste — we'll always have "bad hombres."
