What Does Drake & T. Swift's Instagram Mean?!

I'm kind of in a conundrum here. I love Taylor Swift and I love Drake, but I am still so conflicted by the rumors of their supposed newfound coupledom. Mainly because I really don't think it's happening, but also because the two have both just gotten out of other incredibly high-profile relationships (I think..? What was really up with Drake and Rihanna?) and I think this could end up getting, in a word, messy. But, then something happens like Drake posting a picture with Taylor Swift on his Instagram, and I am forced to reconsider all my preconceived notions.

The picture itself is, honestly, fairly unassuming. Drake and Swift are snapped from the back, standing side by side. While the closeness between them is noticeable, it's also not super intimate. This definitely isn't a "coming out" picture for them as a couple if they are one, because nothing in the picture is that notable romance-wise. If Drake had his hand on her back or if Swift was leaning into him, I'd give this a double take. To me, this picture means something different. But, what? *Dramatic music plays* Something more on the platonic and business-oriented side of their connection, rather than the "oh my god, they are totally canoodling" end.

And this would make a whole lot of sense considering other than the relationship speculation, there's another big rumor about the pair going around. Apparently, people think that they're collaborating on new music together. An E! News "insider" claimed that they are. The source told the site, "The music they have been working on is different... very catchy. They've both been having a great time in the studio."

In fact, this article from E!, which was published on Wednesday, gives even more insight to the picture, because the insider may or may not have described the surrounding moments in detail. The source claimed that at Drake's birthday party, where the picture is likely from given Swift's outfit, "At one point Drake and Taylor were seen near the DJ together talking, his arm over her shoulder for a minute like a real friend moment. It looked like they were talking about something deep." Which is the exact kind of vibe I'm getting from Drake's Instagram post. The two are standing together, side by side, like they're united... just not as significant others.
