You Must Hear Bebe Rexha's New Single

by Alex Kritselis

Pop newcomer Bebe Rexha just released her debut single, “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You,” and it’s absolutely stunning. You may be scratching your head thinking, “Bebe Rexha? Who’s that?” You’re not alone. Rexha might not be a household name just yet, but trust me — you’ve definitely heard her music on the radio. Rexha is the featured vocalist on EDM group Cash Cash’s breakout hit, “Take Me Home,” but perhaps more importantly, she co-wrote the insanely catchy hook for Eminem and Rihanna’s massive single, “The Monster.” “The Monster” peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has sold over 3 million copies since its release last October. I think “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You” has the potential to be just as big.

Rexha, a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Staten Island, told Nylon Magazine in an interview earlier this month that her inspiration for the song came from falling for a guy who was still in love with his ex-girlfriend. After the break-up, she hit the bar in a futile attempt to dull the pain, and voila! “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You” was born. “No one’s gonna love you like I do,” she croons on the track’s moody introduction, continuing, “I know you dream of her while you sleep next to me.” Wow.

Rexha’s voice is wrought with heartbreak throughout the song’s brief but powerful three and a half minutes. The guitars on the chorus give way to a bouncy but melancholy electronic section that will get stuck in your head almost instantly. If you ask me, “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You” has all the makings of a big radio hit.

Of course, Rexha needs a little thing called promotion before she can even dream of having a solo song as big as “The Monster” — that’s just the way the game is played. But hopefully the song gets the promotional push it deserves. I would love to see Rexha’s name in lights some day soon! Check out “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You” below!
