What Was She Allergic To, Anyway?

by Kaitlin Reilly

If you bought a ticket for an upcoming show on Miley Cyrus' Bangerz Tour, you will be disappointed by this news. Miley Cyrus was recently hospitalized for an allergic reaction to cephalexin and had to miss several of her concerts. Now, Miley's reps are saying that the singer will remain in the hospital for longer than initially expected. Here's what they said regarding the "Wrecking Ball" singer's status:

Miley was suffering from a sinus infection during her tour in N.C. a week ago. She was prescribed the antibiotic cephalexin, which she has now suffered an extreme allergic reaction to. This type of extreme reaction can last from 5 to 27 days in these types of cases. She will remain hospitalized and is under a doctor's care until we see some improvement and is asking for your compassion and privacy at this time. Miley is devastated about missing shows and possibly disappointing her fans.

Yikes. Being in the hospital is no fun, and Miley must feel absolutely terrible about missing her shows. There are a lot of things you can say about Miley (people in Tennessee think Miley is possessed by the devil, so there's that) but she's dedicated to her fans and her career, and this isn't her ideal situation. So what exactly is keeping Miley away from her Bangerz tour? Well, according to Drugs.com, an allergic reaction to cephalexin is pretty serious. Symptoms can include confusion, hallucinations, seizures, and severe blistering, among other, equally-as-awful things.

Unfortunately for fans (not to mention Miley herself!) the only place for this singer is in a hospital bed. She will get better as quickly as her body allows, and hopefully be back on stage for the last leg of the Bangerz tour. If not, sorry, fans — you'll have to settle for the Miley Cyrus VEVO channel instead.
