Kendall Says She's "Weird" for the Silliest Reason

by Lia Beck

Kendall Jenner recently posed for a spread in Interview magazine and while most people are focused on the fact that some of the shots were topless, what she says in the interview itself is more interesting. In the article, Kendall Jenner calls herself "weird" for taking in moments. I would say "content" or "thoughtful" would be better ways to describe someone like this, but what do I know.

Kendall says in the magazine,

I've really learned to appreciate a moment. I take things in a lot. I'm kind of weird like that. I like to go outside at night by myself and look at the sky and just appreciate it. I'm not that big of a weirdo, but—occasionally.

Kendall! Kendall, if you're listening, that's not weird! That's totally normal and what everyone should do all the time. I know that you're around a lot of cameras and Twitter accounts and totally amazing Tumblr's, but if you're Instagramming with your eyes, that's a great thing! Looking at the sky is awesome! Appreciating a moment isn't weird! Omg, you guys, what kind of world do we live in where people think this is weird?!

Anyway, my personal existential crisis aside, Kendall also talks about something in the article that maybe is a little weird. She says she was a compulsive liar as a child. As Kendall explains,

In kindergarten or first grade, I would tell people I had tigers living in my attic and a room full of gold... I would tell people I was from Hawaii, but I had a Southern accent. I was the biggest liar for no reason, and then as I got older, I thought, 'Why am I lying to everybody?' I would hear other people lie and be like, 'You sound so stupid.' So then I would just change my lies. The only person I lie to is my little sister, when I steal her clothes.

Kids pick up on things for a number of reasons and saying you have tigers living in your attic isn't going to hurt anyone in the long run, but it's hard to not think about how this skill might have paid off on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Kendall wasn't on the show until she was 12, but those pre-planned situations she ended up in were probably helped by the fact that she knew already knew how to convince people of things. Maybe it was something she inherited. The Kardashians have pulled off this show for seven years, obviously the family is doing something right.

Overall, it sounds like Kendall came out of the whole growing-up-on-a-reality-show fairly unscathed. If her only issues are thinking she's weird for enjoying life sans iPhone and lying to her sister about clothes, I'd say she's doing really well.
