What'd They Name Their Son?

by Christine DiStasio

Once upon a time — I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Last week, on May 29, Once Upon A Time stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas gave birth to their son. And Baby Dallas joined the pair's real-life fairytale — so, naturally, Snow White and Prince Charming gave their first child a name fit for a prince. It looks like they were able to compromise with Goodwin's strict baby-naming rules. On Wednesday the official naming announcement took place, Goodwin and Dallas named their son Oliver Finlay Dallas and someday, he'll rule the Enchanted Forest just like his father. Here, here!

In case you've forgotten, Goodwin and Dallas' OUAT characters, Snow White and Prince Charming, gave birth to the future king of the Enchanted Forest on the show just ahead of the finale. And they named him Prince Neal which, to be honest, is not as cool or as regal as Oliver Finlay. But, whatever.

Goodwin and Dallas continued with the tradition of their real life imitating their OUAT fairytale by choosing what's probably the most fitting name of all time. Okay, Oliver isn't regal — but Finlay totally is. According to SheKnows, Finlay is an Irish baby name that means "fair hero." (Fair, in this case means fair-haired, according to the Gaelic translation.) Could that be more perfect for the son of Snow White and Prince Charming? Charming is obviously a hero and Snow is literally named for having the fairest skin in all the land.

If there were any doubts that Goodwin and Dallas are their OUAT alter egos on and off the show's set — little Oliver's middle name proves it. Watch out, Prince George.
