Brought To You By 'Saved By The Bell'

by Mallory Schlossberg

Oh, Saved By The Bell: The College Years. While it was certainly not as good as the original series, it apparently had an ulterior motive — to inspire a Tom Cruise movie. In fact, thanks to this funny mash-up video, we can see that the Saved By The Bell theme song "inspired" The Edge of Tomorrow . Because when you are Tom Cruise dying over and over again with life threatening robot-alien things trying to crush your skull — you are standing at the edge of tomorrow, and it's up to you how far you'll go (for the uninitiated, that was a direct quote from the theme song). Smiley face! High five! Let's all wear puffy sleeves and scrunchies.

But when you think about it, this video isn't too far fetched given that Zack Morris also had a funky relationship with linear time. Similarly to how Cruise's character in his new action movie gets to live the same day over and over and over again, Morris was able to stop time and make some pretty keen observations while doing so. Damn, why didn't anyone give Morris an action flick?

Anyway, check it out. It's proof that the spinoff series indeed had a greater purpose than we thought, and that purpose was to be a part of funny mashup videos making fun of Tom Cruise movies.
