Emma Watson's Paris Fashion Face-Off

by Rosie Narasaki

Emma Watson, High Empress of the Harry Potter fandom, Queen of the Silver Screen, Wearer of Couture, Most Favored of Young Hollywood — you get the picture. Watson has a lot going on for her, and her appearance at fashion week is proof of that — she made not one, but two appearances at some of the hottest runway shows so far, and looked pretty darn chic at both of them. She's been spotted in both Giambattista Valli and Christian Dior (she even wore Dior to the Golden Globes last year) many a time, and for Paris Fashion Week, she's paying her dues accordingly — even if it means two shows in one day.

Now, I know comparisons between YA franchise leading ladies can get tired (Shailene Woodley certainly thinks so) — but if you will, just take a quick gander at Jennifer Lawrence's eerily Michael Kors-like over-bronzer-ing at Dior and Kristen Stewart's mesh harem pants at Chanel. If we are going to compare YA starlets, this is an arena that Watson wins hands-down (though if we eschew pitting them against each other for fan-casting a buddy comedy, that's entirely different story).

Her real competition? Herself. So, who wore it better, Emma Watson or Emma Watson?

Watson went daring in an asymmetrical look from Dior's Spring 2014 Couture Show. The bodice is definitely doing some weird things to her boob area (putting an emphasis on "asymmetrical"), but I love the sheer skirt with its half-moon cutouts, and her accessorizing is great.

She's the height of Parisian chic in head to toe black, starting with a blousey v-neck, down to perfectly tailored pants and point-toe pumps. And notice, if you will, her briefcase tucked by her chair — it kind of makes the outfit (that and her sassy poise).

It's hard to say which look wins... so let's take a quick peek at her beauty looks at each show for the tiebreaker.

Polished-yet-undone hair, minimal eye makeup and a subtly orange lip? Perfect for a summer day at the museum, and it lets her dress do the talking.

A slick updo, tasteful-yet-high-impact mascara and a pop of color in the form of trendy berry-toned lipstick? Now it's nighttime, and her face is doing the talking!

I'm giving a slight edge to her Dior look (come on, it's couture), but she looked pretty darn fab at both. What do you think?
