It must be Christmas in July, because the latest True Detective season 2 casting rumors are some of the best so far: It's been reported that Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch are in talks to star in the gritty HBO crime drama. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are going to be a tough act to follow, especially since their performances are what propelled the series into its popularity and critical acclaim. Prior to Farrell and Kitsch, it was speculated that Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt were in talks for the series. However, it seems that Farrell and Kitsch might be closer to the truth. That is, unless, the show's creators are just leading us down the rabbit hole and it's been McConaughey and Harrelson all along!

I digress. If the Kitsch casting were to come true, I'd be more than happy to watch the former Mr. Riggins take on yet another challenging and career-shifting role. After his powerful perfrormance in HBO's The Normal Heart, it would be no surprise to see the network pursuing him for one of their most popular and most revered series. Kitsch, it seems, is on a roll.
