Seriously Scary Stuff Going Down in New Orleans

Turn on all of the lights and get ready to cover your eyes, it's starting. The first teaser for American Horror Story: Coven is here, the third season of Ryan Murphy's terrifying, disturbing, awesome horror anthology. Last year there were several short teasers for Asylum, all of which were scary, none of which revealed any sort of plot. So far, the Coven promos are following suit. In the 18 second clip titled "Detention," (found below) we just see a brief glimpse of several young girls stuck to the walls of a large white room.

So far, we know that Coven will take place in New Orleans and will focus on a group of witches who moved there after fleeing Salem, Mass. and voodoo practitioners. The witches include American Horror Story alums Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy, while newcomer Angela Bassett will play real-life "voodoo queen" Marie Laveau. Kathy Bates will portray another historical figure, Delphine LaLaurie, who along with her husband, tortured and killed slaves.

Of course, the teaser shows none of these actresses, or any of the supporting cast, or any real storyline — it's just a really creepy image with some music about New Orleans. The concept should relate to the show in some way, we just don't know how yet, and figuring it out is half the fun. We're looking forward to the other teasers that are sure to come, and be just as vaguely haunting.
